Thankfully we have had one of the coldest starts to December in recent memory and that has allowed us to get onto the ice early. We have already been running trips so it’s not too early to get your trip request in. If you are flexible and open to a variety of species we can ensure that you will be able to get your trip in. If you are after lake trout you will have to wait a little longer for the larger ponds and lakes to freeze up. No worries there as we can make it happen when the time comes. Weekend availability is getting tight so if you want a weekend date get your request in soon.

This season we have been lucky to get onto one of our favorite remote ponds that we use our snowmobile to get to. The trail was a little rough, but the first run usually is. These trips are a favorite for clients as it gives a unique spin to our regular trips. Most of the clients have never been on a snowmobile so being able to do that is part of the overall experience. This particular pond is full of pickerel and is always reliable and falls into the best option for anyone who wants to experience success and isn’t picky about what species they pursue. This pond is a great option for smaller groups as we can only bring one client in at a time. There is another pond that we have to use a snowmobile to get into, but we can use the jet sled and bring in more clients at a time.

Another favorite early spot for us had the most ice at 8” last Monday when we ran a trip there. This pond has pickerel, largemouth bass and yellow perch and is easy to access. Even with the quick warm up and rain these small ponds retain their ice. We are out on the ice either fishing or checking conditions so we can ensure that when we take you out it will be safe. It is just a piece of mind that I want every client to have when they go on a trip with us.

This winter is shaping up to be one of the best in recent memory and our bookings have reflected that. So if you want to try ice fishing out for the first time or want to get out with us this winter give us a shout. Weekend availability is always first to go and February break also books up quick so reach out soon!
