We have had a great season so far, but with many challenges along the way. The rest of our trips on Sebago Lake have been cancelled due to unsafe conditions. We would never run a trip that would put our clients in jeopardy. There will always be anglers that will risk going out onto unsafe ice, but they do not have the responsibility of keeping others safe and I take that responsibility very seriously. So, instead we have gone back to chasing trout, bass, pickerel and pan fish in smaller ponds that still have safe ice and ensure that our clients can have a safe trip with good fishing as well. March can be some of the best fishing as the weather is typically warmer and the smaller bodies of water still have plenty of ice.
Case in point of making the most of a situation was last weekend. My clients had booked me for two days on Sebago and after the first day we determined that we could not continue on the lake. Instead, we went to a trout pond and had a blast. The trout were taking jigs willingly and they even sight fished them in the pop up. In between fish on the jig rods the traps were going off at a good rate and at one point a pod of trout had moved through and the action was fast. We also had the pond to ourselves, which was amazing. By keeping an open mind these clients had a great and memorable experience that was safe for everyone involved.
When you book a trip do you recommend places to stay?
Mark,
We definitely give recommendations for anyone who needs assistance in selecting a place to stay during their stay. We partner with Jordan Rentals in the Sebago Region, but also have plenty of other places that we can recommend in that region.
